Dr. Uzma is a trailblazing psychologist whose dedication to mental health, education, and clinical practice has transformed the field in Pakistan. With a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from ICP (2006) and extensive training including diplomas and a master’s degree, Dr. Uzma has amassed a wealth of knowledge and practical experience. Early in her career, she worked at a neuromuscular rehabilitation center and polished her expertise. She has earned her certifications in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) and hypnosis, including advanced certifications from the USA. She further enriched her skill set with a CBT course from Oxford Therapy Centre, along with numerous international training programs.
As an Assistant Professor at IIUI and later at Bahria University, Dr. Uzma was instrumental in introducing higher-level, HEC-accredited psychology courses. For the first time in the federal sector, she founded a Counseling and Well-being Center, marking a pivotal step for mental health support and awareness in academia.
Dr. Uzma also established a cutting-edge psychology lab at Air University, advancing the clinical psychology program and ensuring that future psychologists are equipped with practical, state-of-the-art skills. Currently, She served as a pioneer consultant clinical psychologist and played a key role in establishing clinical psychology services at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, Islamabad.
Coming from a rural area near Pind Dadan Khan and the proud daughter of an army soldier, Dr. Uzma’s journey from a small-town background to renowned educational institutions is an inspiration. She is also a devoted wife of an army officer and a mother of four, balancing her roles as a homemaker and a leader in her field with resilience and grace.
In 2020, Dr. Uzma established PR&TS (Psychological Resources & Training Services) to provide a dedicated space for comprehensive psychological services. With a team of skilled part-time and full-time professionals, PR&TS offers a range of courses and therapeutic services, driven by a shared commitment to enhancing mental well-being.
Dr. Uzma’s achievements include her position as President of the All-Pakistan Psychologists Association (Islamabad Chapter) and her certification as an NLP practitioner. Outside of her professional life, she is a passionate poet, with her first book published in 1992, and she continues to write and recite poetry at various events.
